My regular pitcher for lemonade had been "borrowed" to make sauerkraut (seriously!), and I was looking for something new anyway. I wanted to say this was the silliest thing I've bought this year, but after making lemonade in it, it totally is not!The juicer that screws into the top is amazing - it didn't take nearly as much effort as it does with my other manual juicers, and it practically stripped the pulp right out of the lemon! The silicone mat that you rest it on while juicing really does hold it in place, and the lid is a nice tight fit for shaking it up before serving. I was prepared to relegate this to the rest of "useless" kitchen gadgets category, but no more. It doesn't need to be used with the pitcher, can be used over a measuring cup. I bet it would work for oranges too, though I haven't had a chance to try that. My only complaints: Once in a while, the pitcher leaks a little when I pour from it. Because of this, I haven't tried storing the full pitcher on its side (like the product description claims you can do). However, the pitcher is secure enough that you can shake up the contents without spilling when the lid is screwed on. Also, the juicer cone is so good at stripping out pulp and seeds that it gets a little clogged after only 1-2 lemons. I just rinse it out whenever it gets too full of pulp. I think this is how all cone juicers work. Overall I'm satisfied. It's a stylish, lightweight pitcher plus a really effective juicer. But it fits perfect on the door shelf. It seals real tight, than you turn the lid half turn and it pours great. I use it more for frozen lemonade than fresh, holds one can juice and four cans water and you can shake real hard. But the juicer work good too and the pitcher has a good handle. |
